About Chilled Turtle Clothing

Our Mens and Women’s clothing range is in two styles - Vintage and 100% Organic. Our Kids ranges are all 100% Organic.  All our products are printed in the UK using only Organic Inks.

Vintage ranges

The vintage range is more retro-inspired with a washed out look and slim-fit shape on both the short and long-sleeved t-shirts.

Organic ranges

The organic range is 100% organic (organic cotton and print, both certified by the Soil Association). The shape and fit on the organic t-shirts is more of a regular, classic fit.

Please check the size charts for the exact measurements.

About our products

We use only Organic inks certified by the Soil Association on both our vintage and organic ranges.

Our clothing is sourced and printed in the UK, with all our designs being created in house inspired by the things we like and the place we live in, the South Coast.

Our t-shirts and hoodies are packed in bio-degradable bags, the swing tags are made from recycled card, and we send your orders out in opaque blue recyclable bags.

The Chilled Turtle Philosophy

When you’re drifting along in life, watching all the other fishes go by, sometimes a moment comes along that you have to grab with both flippers. It’s easy to swim along and do the regular stuff, but there’s nothing like pushing your boundaries a bit.

At Chilled Turtle, we believe that ordinary people (or turtles) are extraordinary, and that it just takes a little bit of change (and hard work) to make that ‘extra’ show through. We call that change getting out of your shell, there’s a brand new world out there and we figure it’s quite fun to be a part of.

We started Chilled Turtle because we peeked out from our musty old shell and started to make some clothes which we felt good wearing and had fun making. We hope you’ll feel good wearing them, too. The adventure has just begun; keep checking back to see what’s new. After all, our world is your world, have a nice swim.

A bit of info about Organic Cotton

Cotton farming uses one quarter of the world’s pesticides and whilst wearing non-organic clothing may not directly affect our health, non-organic cotton production can have a serious effect on the health of cotton farmers. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), 20,000 deaths occur in developing countries each year from pesticide poisoning, many of these are attributed to cotton production.

Much of the world’s cotton is grown in developing countries, and as more and more pesticides and chemical fertilisers are used, the soil fertility is damaged, forcing the farmers into buying more chemicals to encourage their cotton plants to grow - and sinking them and their families into debt. This means many of these farmers cannot afford to send their children to school.

There is an alternative: organic cotton is now farmed in over 22 countries in the world, including many developing countries and there are already 25,000 organic cotton farmers in Africa. By farming organically, cotton farmers have reported that they do not have to get into debt, and using viable alternatives to pesticides protects their health. For example, Ugandan organic cotton farmers use black ants to keep the cotton pests away, and grow okra plants next to the cotton plants to attract away cotton stainers, a pest that the black ants don’t attack.

Organic cotton farmers can also grow food safely on their land, which they can then use to feed themselves and their families or sell to increase their income, thus providing food security. Organic farmers also report substantially higher incomes, allowing them to educate their children and gain access to health care.
