Ukulele World Record smashed in London
Kevin from Chilled Turtle is now officially one of the World Record Breakers from the London Uke Festival. Come and Join us for the Chilled Turtle Ukulele Jam on Sunday 5th July at Paddle Round The Pier!
London World Record smashed 20th June 2009
The 20th June 2009, Devonshire Square, London, EC2 was the venue for the World Record attempt for the record number of Ukulele strummers to play a tune together in one place.
The original world record was achieved in Stockholm in 2007 with 401 confirmed Uke players With the wave of Uke frenzy sweeping the nation right now, the team behind the attempt were sure they could beat the record.
The day saw hundreds of Ukulele players arrive and register for the world record attempt and by 8pm the record was smashed with 850 confirmed new ‘World Record Holders’.
Kevin from Chilled Turtle was one of the World Record Breakers and with his newly achieved status he will be leading ‘The Chilled Turtle Ukulele Jam’ at Paddle Round The Pier on Sunday 5th July.
Meeting from 12 noon, at The Chilled Turtle marquee, we will be jamming on Hove Lawns for a few hours then move onto the beach at 2pm to send the brave Paddlers off into the sea.
There is also a slot confirmed on the stage at 3pm and hope to get as many players as possible up and playing. Experience is not important, just your enthusiasm.
We are also celebrating with Brighton Ukulele Sundays (B.U.S.) for their 1st Birthday bash. They got together last year at the first Chilled Turtle Ukulele Jam.
B.U.S. have kindly offered the use of their songbooks, which can be downloaded from here. There’ll be some additional songs available as handouts to play on the day.
